I worked at Molecular Imprints full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Imprint technology was the best part of working here. The customers made the job worth it.

    Cons

Long hours. Long 2-3 week trips to Japan away from family. No career development. No possibility for promotion or significant salary increases. No accountability for those that continuously fail at their milestones. Executive culture of secrecy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When deciding to give yourself the bulk of any acquisition profits and leave nothing for the hard working employees, do not pretend that you had no involvement in that decision. You stood in front of your employees and told them lies. No company can recovery from that until the management is replaced.

    I worked at Molecular Imprints

    Pros

It's an interesting place to work on new technologies and to give you a chance to work on both hardware and software if you're interested in that. The staff and engineers work hard and are talented people.

    Cons

Serious failure of leadership. The leadership has fostered a "go nowhere" culture. They don't reward hard work or talent, and if you're good at a job, expect to do that job the rest of your time at the company (for the same pay as you were when hired). This has lead to a significant drop in morale (in 2010) where many of the best (most marketable) people left. Then, to nobody's surprise, they then had layoffs in early 2011 and people have continued to leave since then. I really do hope they turn it around, but at this point I wouldn't recommend working there to a friend.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start providing REAL LEADERSHIP! Start fostering a culture where leadership and talent are valued and rewarded. Find those with leadership potential and promote them. Find those in leadership positions who aren't leading well and get rid of them. Stop letting senior management getting bogged down in the tactical details and lay out a plan with where you want to take the company (IPO, buy-out, whatever), and drop all the pointless junk that isn't part of that vision. Admit your mistakes and stop pretending that any executive can put in less than 100% (effort and time) and that vision still be achieved.
