Current Employee - Distributor in South Elgin, IL
Current Employee - Distributor in South Elgin, IL

I have been working at MonaVie part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great opportunity to consume healthy products and make money doing it. MonaVie will definitely be a part of my life for the rest of my life. Whether you choose to become a distributor or simply consume the products, MonaVie has something for you.

Cons

Running your own business is not easy and not for everyone, it takes allot of dedication and follow through. Allot of people get into this type of business thinking they'll get rich quick only to fail because they have no knowledge of it, then they call it a scam. This is to bad because it is a great opportunity.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have none, they do a great job.

    Pros

Free products and great Christmas bonus.

    Cons

Middle level management is not well trained. Most do not have any business education and they do not know how to motivate and deal with employees. You only have feedback when you make a mistake. Supervisors are always threatening to fire their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a realistic expectations about what your employees can do.

Good people. Overworked and too many expectations for the hourly wages

I worked at MonaVie full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Company pays on-time and has a decent Xmas party and gifts. Work-at-home is a good feature. Some very decent people working for the company usually sacrificing their talents for little pay.

    Cons

International customer support can be very frustrating with rules changing all the time, too high demands, too much monitoring, employees feel that their jobs can be cut off at any time, unrealistic performance goals, paranoia about people not putting in their time at home, turnover, no interest in employee feedback, management generally shows up to enforce or complain, too many complaints from disgruntled customers, overall feeling of under appreciation for work done, "our way or the highway" approach to management, low wages for work load and consistent learning of new policies and procedures. Too many periodic tests and frequent equipment and software problems. Substandard help desk with a negative and condescending attitude towards employees with computer or software problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Match your international refund and policies to match the ones applicable in the U.S. Quit thinking that you're already paying above average wages for a call center while ignoring the stress and demands placed on employees for a meager 10-11 hourly wage and because most of them couldn't find a job elsewhere due to language and cultural barriers. If you do that, you might be able to retain good employees longer. Make sure your managers and supervisors are natives to the countries they support and supervise and tell them to be in charge rather than being "yes" men and women taking orders from your international staff. Take the time to ask each individual call center employee what's really going on rather than reading reports and getting feedback from supervisors and managers. They're not going to paint a true picture of what might be really going on and how employees really feel about their daily tasks and the pressures that are placed upon them for the money they're paid.
