Monitor Group Consultant:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Amazing exposure to C-level growth / marketing / strategy issues (and not the IT / sourcing / HR work at the other big firms). Extremely collegial working environment, truly amazing people, very close knit. Opportunity to advance as quickly as you prove the skills - no class system. Many opportunities exist to work abroad (specifically in Africa, Middle East but also Europe and Asia). Consultants also become very involved in the office itself - that include recruiting, managing the summer program, orientation, volunteering, and other initiatives (e.g., in Toronto, the "Green Team" was founded that works to reduce the firm's carbon / environmental footprint; this program is being rolled out at other offices arond the world)

Cons

Demanding job - long hours.

Advice to Senior Management

Make sure to keep the work interesting and keep the meritocratic environment thriving.

I was surprised, given the timing of this review, that the heavy redundancies and the way that they have been handled has not been mentioned.
