Monitor Group – “A great MBA education--without the debt

Oct 5, 2009

4.0

Monitor Group Anonymous:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

>Incredibly talented, unique, engaging people and culture--I learned so much from everyone I worked with and developed life-long friendships and contacts in the process
>Lots of responsibility given right from the get-go... many "stretch" role opportunities if one demonstrates interest
>Good travel model--don't have to work on-site at client all the time

Cons

More generic to consulting as a whole but lifestyle--stress, travel, unpredictable often long hours leads to burn out. Pay just can't compensate you in the long run for what you give up in terms of work-life balance.
Business and as a result, quality of projects can vary dramatically depending upon state of economy, office location, etc.

Advice to Senior Management

I think compensation needs to become more competitive (or at least the benchmarks for determining "competitive" needs to be made transparent ) in order to better retain talent.
