I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Excellent resources allow for full implementation of the newest technology. Great internal development and advancement opportunities. A true focus on company values to Produce More, Consume Less and Improve Lives.

Cons

Similar to most large corporation, the Cons are that research is market driven and not interest driven and subject to change on short notice. Additional Con of Monsanto is that due to the company's position as the industry leader in crop biotechnology, there company and it's employees are often villified.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue forward with the emphasis on customer relations and sharing value with the farmer customers. Never forget the lessons that have been learned from neglecting these relationships in the past.

I worked at Monsanto Company as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

You're treated as a full-time employee and offered all the same amenities (minus the medical/dental/401k/PTO benefits).

Excellent learning opportunity for under graduates with moderate pay, but no benefits. If track record proves and networking proves well, there are multiple exchanges to be invited back for another co-op or a full-time position.

They have a foosball and pingpong table. Not to mention a modernized gym with free membership. All the perks one would expect for a Fortune 500 company. They look out for their employees.

    Cons

Like with every corporate company, the political warfare is on full-throttle. If you outperform, your name MAY will be rise up in the ranks, but you must over achieve 24/7.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep an open communication channel.

Unless you are a scientist, don't bother coming here

I worked at Monsanto Company full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Better than average benefits in St. Louis, which is a sub-standard city to live in. Cheap, but sub-standard.

    Cons

Lots of boys clubs, promotions to those who've been there the longest, not who work the hardest. Oh yeah, and if you don't have a science degree prepared to be treated like your job is "not as cool". Be prepared to endure yearly recurring (and boring as hell) training materials that are obviously geared at lab people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please ask yourselves: How come if you manage to attract all the best talent around, why happened to make it become the greatest revolving door? Low retention, decreasing loyalties, people fleeing left and right.
