Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Rockville, MD

    Pros

Good salary, excellent benefits. No dress code.

    Cons

Some managers are not very good managers. It is hard to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay for performance needs to take place. There are a lot of people that get paid the same thing for not doing as much as others in the same position.

Great place to work for high school graduates working towards a Bachelor's.

Current Employee - Administrative Aide  in  Rockville, MD
Current Employee - Administrative Aide in Rockville, MD

    Pros

The best benefit at Montgomery College is the free tuition for employees. While youi can only get units for the first 2 years of a Bachelor's degree, the College will pay for 6 units at most Maryland 4-year colleges too. There's also a generous annual allotment for professional development.

    Cons

Not much downside if you're in a support position. There is a lot of politics at the managerial level and above. But if you keep your head down and just do your work properly, this is a great place to start a career and pay less out-of-pocket for your college education.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't think there is any way to tell the management to stop politicking and just do their jobs. There are a lot of great leaders at all levels, but it's the few people in position who crave power and glory who poison the atmosphere for everyone else. There should be an evaluation of management done by those who work under them.
