Pros

The best benefit at Montgomery College is the free tuition for employees. While youi can only get units for the first 2 years of a Bachelor's degree, the College will pay for 6 units at most Maryland 4-year colleges too. There's also a generous annual allotment for professional development.

Cons

Not much downside if you're in a support position. There is a lot of politics at the managerial level and above. But if you keep your head down and just do your work properly, this is a great place to start a career and pay less out-of-pocket for your college education.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't think there is any way to tell the management to stop politicking and just do their jobs. There are a lot of great leaders at all levels, but it's the few people in position who crave power and glory who poison the atmosphere for everyone else. There should be an evaluation of management done by those who work under them.

    Pros

good benefits and salary. workload is also not too much and soemwhat flexible. people are very friendly and we get a very muticultural environment.

    Cons

there is sometimes too much bureoucracy and it a takes a lot of time to arrive at very small decisions/

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

leadership is good but we would like the management to be more open and transparent. They should use more business-like approach in taking decisions and not simply follow the rules as given in the book.

Top heavy management populated by people with entirely too much time on their hands

    Pros

It's fairly collegial. (it is a college, after all.) Unless you murder someone, they won't fire you.

    Cons

Lots of inflated egos; too much micromanagement; much tolerance for mediocrity; decision by committee. (this is a college, after all.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust that your underlings know what they are doing and let them do their jobs without micromanaging.
