    I have been working at Montgomery Housing Partnership as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

    Overall great experience and exposure to different aspects of community development work; great flexibility in assignments. Co-workers are friendly, always willing to help, and collaboration between departments is quite normal. Also good opportunities for professional development & networking depending on your interests. Organization has a great reputation and plenty of supporters in the area.

    Cons

    Team members take on a lot of responsibility as it is a small organization. As projects or employees change over time, information can sometimes get lost in transition without good organization & communication. Some assignments were re-created only to find months later that there in fact progress was already made but nobody else knew but the previous employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    In addition to formal methods of employee recognition, which are great, take more care to show/express it on a more day-to-day basis.

    Also, ensure that there are clear expectations for passing along project information, polices & procedures, contacts, etc. so that future employees do not have to re-create the wheel.

    workloads are unreasonable and upper management is too pone to micro-manage and interfere
