I have been working at Moog full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

a large company that has interesting projects and future. the aircraft sector will be strong because of long term projects. someone can come to the company and find a niche. excellent benefits and salaries keep employees around for a while.

Cons

for a company this large there is very little organization structure. people are expected to simply do what has to be done. this concept works in principle but sometimes without a management structure in place the priority to get things done depends solely on whether someone wants to help you or not.

A rewarding experience, but contract workers are taken advantage of.

I worked at Moog as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Smart, hardworking coworkers. Lots of great people. Cool technology and equipment. Paid overtime. The company culture claims to eschew job titles. A few advantages of this is diverse challenges, sharing responsibility. As a result, my team was very flexible and built good camaraderie.

    Cons

Eschewing job titles led to scope creep of responsibilities and project goals. Management often emphasized schedule over quality and often over-promised to customers. Sometimes engineers spent more time updating progress charts than doing actual work. There were long work hours. 48 hours was a good week (54+ hrs/week was common for me). Generally, there's poor collaboration between departments such as commercial, military, purchasing and the tool room and too much depends on who you know. The company continues to waste resources developing Asian facilities and training their workers while putting out fires due to their enormous incompetence and turnover rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire fewer contract workers and focus on recruiting quality full-time employees. Do the same for your facilities abroad. Avoid scope creep by defining rigid goals and employee responsibilities.

    Pros

Great place to work. good benefits. Good people to work for. very busy.

    Cons

a little bit too structured everything has to follow a very strict protocol. Slow about getting changes made that can improve things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

just follow up faster on things that need improvement. It seems like it takes too long to impliment positive changes.
