I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

able to work from home

Cons

I was told there was plenty of work for me to do as the office got smaller and smaller, and then i get the ax. No truth in management. No loyalty. Bad compensation.

work is 50 - 60 hours a week

  1. Decent Internship

I worked at Morgan Stanley as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Intelligent coworkers. Other interns were also reasonably intelligent. Work is challenging, and there's a lot of it. Interns are wooed with decently interesting events and a trip.

    Cons

Pay is average to below average. Work can be boring, even if you're interested in finance. Not much sense of a work-life balance among full-time people. The future doesn't look too good for MS, and it's future may be a much more boring place for technology people (less prop trading, more wealth management).

Former Employee - Financial Analyst in New York, NY

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This can be a pro or con: I worked in several groups in NY, and my experiences in terms of both professional growth and daily work satisfaction were very different depending on the group.

    Cons

Like I indicated above, it is very difficult through the interview process to get an adequate sense for the culture of the group of people with whom you would interact with on a daily basis.
