-lots of smart geeks
-great in-house toolkits

Cons

-some really old legacy code
-cuts are made regularly, which isn't great for morale

    Pros

    Morgan Stanley is a large company which lends itself to many opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

    Morgan Stanley like many companies is extremely competitive in the work environment. If you are not agressive by nature you will have difficulty succeeding. Additionally, like many companies today there is little concern for the internal user community. Everything is tied to cost conservation not providing the best service to the internal clients

    Pros

    Good exposure to management, with them willing to listen to what you have to say. They expect you to think of ways to do things more efficiently.

    Cons

    MS is seriously trying to cut the fat in the operations department. Everything is focused on doing more with less. While this might mean decent exposure and managers willing to listen to what you have to say, work life balance is mediocre at best and you are not rewarded for your efforts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You have to reward people for their efforts, especially on the lower rungs. Attrition is extremely high for that reason alone
