I worked at Morgan Stanley as a contractor for less than a year

Pros

The quality of people seems unparalleled compared to other companies I've worked at. Mind you, I've been a consultant at big banks for about 15 years.

Cons

Old corporate culture still lingers and is resistant to many changes - unless it comes from the top.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to learn from your subordinates and especially your contractors, what can be done to improve your organization.

    I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Benefits were great and they were flexible when it came to working from home. Envolved with lots of volunteer work and charities employees could be engaged in. In addition, company requires employees stay up to date with industry standards by providing business and technology courses, seminars, workshops.

    Cons

    Operations area does not work too much in teams. More like each employee is looking out for themselves uand there is no true "Teamplayer"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management should be a bit more engaged when it comes to direct reports if they are overseas. Have someone onsite that can provide honest and true feedback.
