Pros

They are a large company, well recognized in Investment Banking and Securities Industry. They pay well and the Corporate culture is very unique. Respect is given to everyone. Opinions and contributions accepted. Most of the people are very intelligent.

Cons

Opportunities for advancement are limited.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Morgan Stanley has continuously succeeded throughout history because it embraced a certain culture, and ways to do business. Changing culture just because times change can have an adverse effect. Strategy is meant to be changed, culture is meant to last forever. You attract people by compensating them well, you keep people by growing their careers and equally compensating them for their efforts. Lack of compensation is one of the quickest ways to lose top talent. Business minded people always weigh the factors of their circumstances, don't give them a reason to leave if they're your top performers.

    Pros

    It was a paycheck. Period.

    Cons

The corporate culture is abominal. MS is the most anti meritocratic house on the Street. If you are in a non revenue cost center, God help you; you're percieved as nothing more that overhead. Management works 24 X 7 to offshore and outsource. Career development and training are non existent. If you don't have a "rabbi", you might as well get your resume on monster.com as your days are numbered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management there is tonedeaf so any advice or feedback tendered would be a waste of bandwidth.

    Pros

the name as a resume builder, can make a ton of money if you know how to sell crap to people they dont need.

    Cons

long hours in the financial advisor program. they pair rookies with senior advisors, they know full well you wont make it, so you are basically a lackey to the senior guy until you cant it anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

well the managers in our office dont really do anything, but push in house products for the financial advisors to sell.
