    Pros

Morgan Stanley's IT department focuses on some aspects of work-life balance well, like support for certifications and working from home.

    Cons

Compensation has been on a pretty steady trend downwards - double-digit percent cuts are not made up by the occasional "better" year that goes up maybe 2%. Opportunities for career growth have always been limited by a highly competitive environment that has gotten more competitive as management has chosen to flatten the org by letting go of people with more senior titles.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on reducing cost as the only route to profit. Every study ever shows that long-term growth comes from investing in your employees, paying them well, making them happy and productive.

    Pros

Free food. Great people. Awesome bosses. Exceptional firm.

    Cons

Flexibility to switch specialties. To be more specific, if you are interning with a great team but realize that their field of work is not something you want to do full time, you'll start delving into other components of the firm right? It's almost impossible to switch unless the stars are aligned for you to "seamlessly" transition. Other than that, you'll need to move on alone.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!
