I worked at Morgan Stanley as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Free food. Great people. Awesome bosses. Exceptional firm.

    Cons

Flexibility to switch specialties. To be more specific, if you are interning with a great team but realize that their field of work is not something you want to do full time, you'll start delving into other components of the firm right? It's almost impossible to switch unless the stars are aligned for you to "seamlessly" transition. Other than that, you'll need to move on alone.

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Morgan Stanley provides a wide range of educational and professional tools for an employee to advance their career within the company. It is definitely the type of company a person would like to retire from.

    Cons

There are quite a few individuals whom have been made officers from the pre "John Mack" reign, that have no idea how to compose a simple memorandum, let alone manage people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is still some dead weight in middle management that prevent employees under them from becoming rising stars. Weed them out and release them during the next reorg.
