Pros

Morgan Stanley is improving with each quarter. If you want to do Asset Management, whether it be Private Wealth Management or Institutional, this is the place to do it.

Cons

It's hard to get recognized at a big firm. Building your networks takes considerable time and energy.

I worked at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

You get a view of what it takes to be a successful financial adviser.

    Cons

The quality of the internship depends completely on which adviser you work for, so if the adviser does not have much experience with an intern, they may have no idea how to use you. The company culture can also be very stuffy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an internship program that is actually well organized and gives interns the ability to be successful and possible move into a full time position

  2. Management needs restructuring. Salary is less than competitive among industry leaders for sales assistants.

Examine your talent pool at the office and let go of anyone unwilling to learn new things or progress. If someone does want to excel, encourage and fuel their ambition.
