Pros

Down to earth company where you work heard but have fun also. The company often polls the employees to see what they can do to work for them. There is also employee appriciate week, one of the few left in the corporation world due to cut backs.

Cons

Lower pay, bad rap that is uneducated by those who do not understand.

Advice to Management

Thank you for listen to the employees

I stayed nearly a decade with the company, but I should have left long ago.

    Pros

Average array of benefits & paid time off.
Great job if you like meeting and taking care of people.
Clear support from corporate for a diverse workforce.

    Cons

Pay and compensation disproportionate to loss of life & amount of work.
    Impossible work-life-balance despite company "propaganda".
Work 60+ hrs per week to be successful.
Required to live in tiny, loud, uncomfortable, 1 bedroom studio apartments on property.
On call 24hrs X 7days 365 days per year. Days off & paid time off usually aren't fully off.
Frequent reorganization of Area Managers with wildly varying expectations.
Constant threat your job will be lost to selling company property to franchisor.
Hourly employees are well protected by HR but GM's are treated as step children.
Cancelled pay raises, tiny pay increases, and increasing benefits costs/share meant that I brought home less money every year for past 5 years despite excellent performance reviews.
Centralized capital management & maintenance programs made it difficult to impossible to keep ancient, unkempt properties up to guest expectations.
Despite lots of good employee policies, the company propaganda often rang hollow, especially dependant on Area Manager and/or VP working under.
If you want to move up from hourly position to GM there is lots of opportunity (GM turnover), but the GM's have almost nowhere to go unless part of the corporate good ol' group.
Senior Management and corporate decision makes disconnected from actually day-to-day operations.

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with more properties than the select few in major areas, move into the 21st century on workforce management, scheduling, and improve compensation and work/life balance for GMs.
