Cons

No brand recognition and extremely political.
No respect
No communication
All bureaucracy
No team spirit
Complete incompetence
Complete failure of management to assign people with the skills to the jobs.
Complete failure of management to support, train, and motivate personnel

Recognize the efforts of individual contributors.

    Pros

    Good benefits and flexibility of work schedule.

    Cons

    Although Motorola had been experiencing loses for many years, it seems that nothing management does can reverse that trend. Layoffs have become commonplace, employee moral is at rock-bottom, and the company has gotten even worse since being bought by Google. Employees are no longer treated as an asset, but rather as a commodity, and instead are thrown out like yesterday's trash at the whim of management, without consideration for how well an individual performs or what they contribute. Since August, 2012, 5,200 Motorolans have been laid off, the set-top box division is being sold off, and the entire supply chain organization is being sold and/or outsourced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Figure out how to save money WITHOUT eliminating hard-working employees. Google has destroyed Motorola's corporate culture to the point where no one will want to work for Motorola. Given how highly Google is supposedly rated a place to work, you would never know it by the way the people at Motorola Mobility have been treated since being acquired by Google.

    Pros

    Part of Google now so hidden behind their financial performance.
    No longer forced to keep up with HW spec based product or Android release cycle.
    Join Google instead and take a rotation to Moto.

    Cons

    Very different from Google - culture, politics, perks, people, although mgmt would like to think they are the same.
    The influx of Googlers creating a tiered culture. Those that are from Google have visibility, trust and air-time with the new leadership.
    Moto considered mid-western, lazy (IMO) and lacks IQ.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    give Moto people an equal seat at the table. Else you will loose bright people.
