I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Many talented and dedicated staff but many are leaving. Most projects are Interesting and challenging.

Cons

It is difficult to maintain much of a work - life balance. Burn out rate is high. Projects/programs are often behind schedule and require Herculean efforts to complete. This is OK once in awhile but this is SOP at Mobility. Once completed the products are typically behind the competition.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes and take a good look at who is doing the real work. Make decision faster and get rid of those who are not doing their job.

  2. Good people, culture and work environment but very poor management. Too many layers of management. Slow response.

    Pros

People culture is great. Very helpful, great team work to get things done. Very flexible work hours as long as things get done. Talented people with great ideas.

    Cons

Too many layers of management. Most mid level managements don't really contribute much. They are on the fence most of the time. Not technical enough to drive innovation and bureaucratic to push things through. As a result super slow in response to competitor challenge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mid level management is the main bottle neck. Need to trim it off to be more effective.
