I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good benefits, good team. Work-life balance is better than average. Opportunity to participate hands-on in the creation of the cutting edge products used by many people.

Cons

Churn on the projects, little formal technical training for employees. The yearly salary increase is minimal. Quarterly performance reviews are more of a dread than a useful tool.

    Pros

Used to be a fun place to work where people actually cared. You manger actually cared about your career path and looked out for your growth.

    Cons

Constantly outsourcing and downsizing. It's like walking on a ice covered lake in May. Always have to watch your step and watch for the swinging axe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your people - they are the ones who made you a success before you started cutting their throats.

I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Many talented and dedicated staff but many are leaving. Most projects are Interesting and challenging.

    Cons

It is difficult to maintain much of a work - life balance. Burn out rate is high. Projects/programs are often behind schedule and require Herculean efforts to complete. This is OK once in awhile but this is SOP at Mobility. Once completed the products are typically behind the competition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes and take a good look at who is doing the real work. Make decision faster and get rid of those who are not doing their job.
