I worked at Motorola Mobility

Pros

Mature company in its field. They do very good work in the RF field. They are a power house of the radio industry.

Cons

Not much room for growth. They would not pay for graduate school for an engineer, this was promised during the interview process.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Return to roots. Spur innovation, not quick profit. The Galvin management, while it was not good for share holders. Was a very good environment for innovation. This was not the case after Zander came in.

I have been working at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

t depends on the business unit. There are a lot of very cool r&d projects within Motorola, and it is still a great place to work as a technologist and innovator. The 401k matching (while it lasts) is nice, but that is about it.

    Cons

There are really too many downsides to list here. Most related to corporate policies and politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop looting the company with your compensation packages while profits continue their downward trend, all the while closing R&D facilities and off-shoring major software development work to teams who are not collaborating effectively. Please stop the "waring tribes" mentality and try to come together as Sr. Leaders to develop innovative and, cough - well integrated - products to market. Also, you should quickly consider working with Apple as a partner to enable support for your phones in Mac OS X. The fact is that Apple owns fastest growing segment (and the most affluent) segment of the mobile computing space. To continue to block mobile support in Mac OS X because of a grudge over the iPhone is a business practice that is certain to result in lost revenue, and is a disservice to your shareholders.
