I worked at Motorola Mobility

Pros

Mature company in its field. They do very good work in the RF field. They are a power house of the radio industry.

Cons

Not much room for growth. They would not pay for graduate school for an engineer, this was promised during the interview process.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Return to roots. Spur innovation, not quick profit. The Galvin management, while it was not good for share holders. Was a very good environment for innovation. This was not the case after Zander came in.

    Pros

    Leader in Industry
    Quality Products
    Compensation Package

    Cons

Good Old Boy Club (Sector Specific)
Assignments are given to friends with jobs phased out outside thier profession. Qualified Applicants with experience and proven track record are passed over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rotate Management after 5 years (Stagnate)
Get rid of all the middle management gate keepers!!!
Management should have experience in the field they manage. Two levels above have never ran a project yet manage senior program managers.

    I worked at Motorola Mobility

    Pros

It was a great place to begin my career and have opportunities to learn and grow. A lot of very talented engineers who were always willing to see you succeed.

    Cons

Executive leadership led us into terrible condition, now they spend more time trying to get out of a bad shape instead of strengthening themselves for the future

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop flooding the marketplace with 60 products on the roadmap per year. Concentrate your engineering resources to reduce the number of hardware platforms and focus your SW efforts on more than just making the hardware work. The UI is not compelling, usability is nothing special, and there is no WOW factor.
