Motorola – “Stupid senior managers killed a good company”

Pros

if you are lucky you can work on the latest and cutting edge technology else you will be doing mostly integration and patch work. If your product ships, it is very satisfying to read reviews about it and see it in the hands of people. Mot is quite an ethical company. They have mastered the art of layoffs ;) do it in a very dignified way. Much better than a lot of other people I have heard. Some managers, like mine are real gems. True leaders and visionary. Unfortunately most are old farts who still think they make walki talkies and not cutting edge mobile phones

Cons

You'll be lucky to have a good pay similar to your colleagues in other companies. Cheap labor is Moto's motto. Mobile devices needs to be restructured, not totally castrated. its good that Sanjay Jha is changing senior managements. Unfortunately every new CEO who comes, literally yanks out "moto's batteries" and restart the company. So at the end it is not going anywhere. I guess the govt and public safety and networks division are doing good so far. Hopefully the old farts in Mobile devices will be gone but unfortunately a lot of talent has been wasted. Management needs to understand that mobile phones are a fashion statement and not some police walkie talkie.

Advice to Senior Management

- Clean it up. Have people who have vision and not followers.
