Good place to work if you're in the right position--geographically and within the company.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Working at Motorola Solutions is a series of tradeoffs: working at HQ means great opportunities to network and advance, but requires that you be visible and present on campus; working "in the field" means many fewer opportunities to switch jobs or get promotions, but means nearly unparalleled work freedom (work from home, flex hours, etc.). Has an unbelievable number of "lifers" for this day and age, but a glacial pace of change. Almost everyone is congenial, but there are plenty of politics hidden under the surface.

    Cons

Aforementioned tradeoffs, low pay if you don't switch jobs often, fewer chances for advancement if you are not in Illinois.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There's a time to shake things up, and a time to let things be. Upper management is getting better at recognizing which is which.
