Pros

Mullen strives to give the impression that it is a cool place to work. In many ways it is, if you are only looking for a fun career.

Cons

If you are looking to push yourself intellectually you might be missing out here. Your intellectual achievements might go unnoticed with the large number of people that work here. Admittedly this opinion probably varies a lot depending on what you do.

    I worked at Mullen

    Pros

    - The clients and work is new and exciting
    - the people are AMAZING (mostly those at the bottom doing the actual work)
    - most everyone is willing to work hard to put out great work.

    Cons

    - no leadership or support from upper management.
    - no growth opportunities
    - no mentorship or professional growth opportunities
    - insanely long hours and heavy work loads
    - negative attitudes from upper management, and even weekly lashings from VP level and above
    - incredibly unprofessional
    - the pay is some of the worst in the business
    - very understaffed, especially in the creative and development departments
    - blinded by awards, and not by client service

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your people. They do great work for you. You are directly pushing great employees by abusing them, which is why you aren't winning business anymore.

Also, reviews should be once a year, not once every 2-3 years when you beg (for months). That goes for raises as well.

I have been working at Mullen

    Pros

There are some decent creative teams that work there and overall some friendly people.

    Cons

    Where do I start:
    - Terrible management
    - Lack of communication
    - Unless you are an SVP, your opinion doesn't matter
    - Most of the SVPs and above are so out of the loop of today's marketplace and will never learn to adjust
    - The agency is much different than the Boston office and there is NO communication between the two
    - Agency is built on fear
    - Hours are horrific
    - Terrible client relationships. Win a piece of business, work hard on it for 1-2 months, pitch more business and forget about the other business. It is a cycle and the reason they always lose business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Treat people with respect
    - Provide opportunities to grow, learn and advance
    - Not every meeting is life or death
    - Settle down and realize that it is advertising
    - Build a culture that individuals will be inspired by
