Former Employee - Cashier in Jacksonville, FL

I worked at Murphy USA part-time (more than a year)

Pros

Good hours, raises, small store, easy to stock.

Cons

Stressful, deal with uneducated people, too much work for one person to handle.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a minimum of two people working together each shift, running an entire store by yourself is stressful and not worth the amount of money per hour its like being a manager for only making minimum wage.

I have been working at Murphy USA part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    It's a job, its a job, its a job

    Cons

NO BREAKS, ON FEET FOR WHOLE SHIFT, LOW PAY, HARD PHYSICAL LABOR , ONCE AGAIN NO BREAKS, EXPECT TO SUCK UP TO CUSTOMERS ALL DAY IN ORDER TO PROMOTE THEIR MONTHLY SPECIALS

This company expects you to do a whole task list of things, such as, change about 10 bins of nasty garbage, clean the nasty bathroom, stock the 40 degree cooler(lift crates of beer and soda), sweep parking lot, sweep and mop store, detail-clean windows and a host of other mess, stock about 30 boxes of cigarettes every time they have a truck come in, which is usually 2 or 3 times a week, stock the junk that goes on the shelves as well on truck day, and if you close the store at night, expect to close alone, which I think is unsafe, especially for a female. Its the worse place I ever worked and the turnover rate is so bad that just about anyone can move into a store management position, even if they are not the sharpest kid on the block or most professional person-- I hated this job with a passion -- if you are hard-up for money, like I was, and this is your last resort, go ahead and apply, but if you have other options, I suggest you avoid this company

(by time most of you read this, my status will actually be former employee-)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

GIVE BREAKS AND STOP TREATING YOUR EMPLOYEES LIKE ROBOTS.....AND GET TWO PEOPLE TO CLOSE THE STORE, INSTEAD OF ONE, I DONT CARE WHAT STATISTICS YOU BASE YOUR LABOR ON-- SOMEONE'S LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MAKING A DOLLAR!

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
