Fundraising Coordinator (Current Employee)

ProsThe requirements of a fundraiser for this position is challenging. You don't have to have a lot of sales background to get this job, but once you do, you sales experience, if done correctly, will increase dramatically. Any fears of making cold calls, asking for the appointment, asking for a handout will disappear if you perform the job asked of you.

ConsThere is a lot of turnover in this position. You are considered senior staff if you have made it more than a year. They don't work to keep the staff that is succeeding, thus if you have any real talent, you tend to move on after that year marker.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't overwork your staff. You expect 50-60 hour weeks during FTB and MW call-outs, but you don't allow for any personal time. You burn your staff out. Set realistic goal based on population and potential.
