Pros

Everybody has the same mind set to help cure the 43 different neuromuscular diseases MDA covers. Great group of people to work with. You will never have a dull moment and will work your tail off. They send you all across the nation for training too (expenses paid)

Cons

Working your way up the ladder is not fast nor easy. Just like all not for profits, a lot of your work is to find ways to make budget, even if you are not working the fundraising side. Layoffs happen to the best of us

Advice to Management

Get involved with the Healthcare side a little more. Although a lot is about making budget, if it weren't for the families you were helping, the organization would not exist.

    Pros

Helping families who are suffering from these terrible diseases.

    Cons

Too numerous to mention all. But, the biggest ones are lack of management at the mid level, outdated fundraising methods, and lack of flexibility in doing job.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what the people in the field are telling you and quit trying to push your failed policies and practices down their throats.

The lack of quality leadership is very evident

    Pros

The employees at the District Level are typically helpful. The administrators are AMAZING and consistently go above and beyond. The Directors could use some management/leadership training though.

    Cons

The Divisional Team is SO far removed from the mission, it's ridiculous! They do not know how to communicate well with others and its always all about the money raised (which doesn't typically go where the donors/sponsors/families think it does). They care nothing about he people and turn-over is astronomical!

    Advice to Management

Definitely take the time to train and develop. It needs to start with upper management. The leadership iis VERY VERY poor.
