Negative Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

It is a pleasure and proud to work for NASA space exploration projects with thousands of brilliant scientists and engineers in addition for the excellent benefits and competitive salary.

Cons

Less opportunities for career advancement and a lot of unfair/wrongful terminations/ laid-offs due to some bad line supervisors & managers.

Advice to Management

Should reward and retain good employees based on their hard works, performance, experience...

  1. An eye-opening experience

I worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had the pleasure of working there one summer. It combines the perks of academia (intellectual freedom, stimulating environment) with the perks of industry (steady 9-5ish hours, less pressure to publish).

    Cons

Can be viewed negatively by professors as it's not a 'true' academic track (even though there are more positions at national laboratories than prestigious universities).

  2. Great opportunity for interns to do hands on research

    Approves of CEO

I worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Able to high level research in a short amount of time. Gained presentation skills as well. Provided interns with functions to meet one another and interesting lectures targeted at undergraduates. Interesting blend of academic research and practical application. Intellectually stimulating environment.

    Cons

Undergoing serious budget cuts that threaten future. For interns in particular, some jobs require a PHD in order to gain a full-time job, which makes sense, but is tough for those who aren't interested in obtaining a doctorate right out of school.
