Pros

Work with some of the brightest minds in the world and several thousand people who are extremely passionate about space exploration. Typically work 9-80 work schedule leads to excellent work-life balance. Opportunities are rather limited for interns, you pretty much do the work you are assigned. However, the matrix style of management at JPL where you have a line manager who helps you find work in projects opens each employee up to many opportunities.

Cons

Struggle to gain funding for flight projects. A lot of pre-projects work goes on, lots and lots of planning but somewhat frustrating lack of execution in some areas.

Advice to Management

Be available to meet with interns so they can get to know their group supervisors.

    Cons

Things seemed to be always pushed back. Overly secure protocols.

    Pros

There was a wide range of opportunities available for work. Additionally, there was a large amount of sessions that we could attend to learn more about the different areas the JPL operates in.

    Cons

The time like any summer internship was limited so it hard to fully see all the cons of working at a place like JPL
