“Enjoyed sw development, 24*365, lousy physical environment, lots of pressure, interesting problems.”
Current Employee – been working at NASDAQ OMX Group
Pros – The NYC office is doing interesting development in Linux, pay and options can be pretty good if you happen to be one of the favored folks.
Cons – Many developers are on call 24*365 even when on vacation, long days, weekend presence often mandatory. The open plan offices in NYC and CT are noisy and non-developers are often on the phone, meetings take place all over. Tough place to concentrate, but many can work from home.
Regular "downsizing".
