NCR – “abandon hope all ye who enter here”
Pros
customer engineer work is fun & customers are glad to see you.
a breadth of stores and banks means you do not get bored.
Cons
emphasis on numbers, quantity not quality.
management expects things to get fixed, with no regards to time/distance,manpower resources, support, training, parts needed.
they expect you to meet 3 numbers (86%): a/ get to the site within 1/2 hrs. b/get it fixed now/today. c/numbers of stores (min 5 a day)
my territory was 2hrs long & 1 hr wide. I spend average 3 hrs driving a day, and still be expected to meet numbers.
management is nut: one day i was told to work til you drop (respond to ATM service 7/24/365), next day "no OT without approval from manager"
company release shoddy/unreliable machinery (check processing module) to bank of america, without any training to field service engineers. Then months later were forced to send them to training only when we have to revisit the same machine twice a day (because engineers don't know how to fix)
Advice to Senior Management
no hope for this company. sell your customer base to some other company who knows how not to treat employees like slaves
