I worked at NCR full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Staff comitted to producing excellent products. Top equipment dealer for financial institurions. Also has increased profits by using 3rd party vendors for installations of equipment. NCR has positioned itself nicely and has a well rounded product line. ATM line is top notched.

Cons

HQ staff wear many hats. Sometimes hard to get technical assistance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add more tech staff. Try to retain best employees.

    Pros

Great learning experience in software development. Even better opportunity if you get to work on innovative R&D projects, POCs, in a great team. Above market salary and benefits.

    Cons

There is a grave issue with long term stay here. Lack of career management, and cross slant opportunities outside software engineering role. Essentially not a place of innovation but a software sweat shop factory driven by floor managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Manager your star employees.

    Micromanaged from the very top

    Pros

Compensation is competitive. Benefits are competitive.

    Cons

A high level of micromanagement, starting with the CEO, and cascading all the way down. This conveys a complete mistrust in the competence of every layer, causes 30% increase in unnecessary status meetings to different warlords so that everyone can feel important. Adds a 30% increase in labor due to power point presentation creation to serve those same warlords. Everyone works hard, not smart, and the functional orgs care absolutely nothing about the customers. They only care about meeting their bonus metrics, and will damage any other org they come in contact with in order to meet that goal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your managers autonomy and trust. Give them revenue and margin numbers to hit, and don't tell them HOW to do their jobs and don't make them give silly status presentations every 24 hours.
