    Pros

Has the power of a typical large corporation with regards to benefits, tools, education, and compensation.

    Cons

Managerial styles vary widely, too widely. For instance, my manager was too focused on making the numbers look good, not focused on resolving the underlying issues that drive some of our metrics. Other managers take a wholistic approach focused on making sure we have the underlying issues addressed, such as education and experience of technicians, or call management.

I have been working at NCR full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is attempting to turn itself around with its attitude toward its employees. They are trying to create a campus atmosphere for innovation and growth. Seems to fall a little flat when there are not enough confernce rooms to meet and most meetings seem to be on the phone from a low height cube. Various people have flexible hours and sometimes telecomute from home. There are learning opportunities and smaller perks that are being awarded (and taxed) for recognition awards. If your interest is development then there are some opportunites but you must choose the correct team or you are bogged down with supporting legacy systems or purchased applications from outside vendors.

They offer online learning opportunities, Six sigma certifications, Flexible Schedules and opportunities for telecommuting. Some benefits for daily commutting reimbursement. bonus based on company performance can be good.

    Cons

NCR has a Development Center in India with a staff rate of around 30% onshore and 70% offshore. The company seems more willing to bring in outside experts then trust internal people. With the focus on the India Development Center you are left with the feeling that you are more of an expence than what you are worth. The India Development Center is a mix bag of quality.

Benefits use to be good but have slowly been declining. The benefits are only average in comparison to other companies. Healthcare employee management is starting to get intrusive with monitoring if you are taking your "meds" if you happen to be on them. Drug tests to make sure that you truely are a non-smoker and so on.

Salary increases are marginal at best and reviews are by an IT management group that spreads the merit increases around. At most you are lucky to get one or see 1.5% raises unless you can convince management for promotion to a new level.
