Pros

Only that my manager is the best. After that, meeehhh.

Cons

Poor pay. Shifting salary ranges down in 2013 for all grades. No real bonuses for the past two years. Salary increases have been extremely sub-par. Benefits are ok but not good. Time off is only good because I negotiated for it. Management seem inept and can't make good decisions. Wait till last minute to make decision using poor analysis and impatience. Communication is terrible. Upper level management does not exist at the "headquarters." Projects have silo-ed work efforts that are never made to work together. The only way NCR can make it right now is buy performing companies to pad the bottom line. Soon that will run out. EVERYTHING is too complex; products, prices, processes, systems and organizations. Too many home grown systems too.

Advice to Management

Simplify and focus. Be patient and analyze correctly. Show more of an interest in employees in the US. Communicate better ahead of time, not last minute surprises.

    Pros

Competitive pay if you are not on a bonus plan
    Competitive medical benefits

    Cons

Management is 100% focused on cost, regardless of the consequences to customer sat or employee sat. Any mention of customer or employee sat is lip service, especially from the head of HR, who absolutely does not care. The company has tremendous labor overhead due to deplorable IT systems, which are deplorable due to the constant cost pressure. The functional groups only care about internal metrics, which are completely focused on cost. The bonus metric connected to customer sat is consistently unreachable, and no one is actually accountable nor empowered to satisfy those customers. The last 5 years has been a continuous assault on anything cost related that might improve the lives of employees. The CEO has chosen to change the 401k to a lump sum payout on Dec 31, despite the fact that 92 of the top 100 companies in the US absolutely do NOT do this. The CEO is going to leave nothing but a smoking ruin behind when he leaves.

    Advice to Management

Stop the cost cutting and start focusing on the employee base. There is a lot of power to be harnessed there. You need new leadership in HR as well as in IT.

I have been working at NCR

    Pros

Great people that really care about the customer and each other. Every employee that I've met has been friendly and extremely helpful in helping me learn how NCR operates internally to provide excellent customer service! Upper management listens to the field and makes policy changes based on the field's concerns.

    Cons

Territory Managers have long days. But the long days pay off in compensation and the satisfaction you get from making a real difference in your customers' businesses and CEs' performance / rewards.

    Advice to Management

Continue to find ways to free up TMs to spend more time in the field.
