I have been working at NETGEAR full-time

Pros

Salary is good. Most people say hello. Most people are reasonable with of course a few exceptions that have tantrums.

Cons

Amount of work hours (and weekends). Favoritism. Appreciation not acknowledged well. Management continues to go about its same path with little regard to employee voices opinions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Losing people not by natural attrition but discontentment.

I have been working at NETGEAR

    Pros

Great learning opportunity in a fast paced company.

    Cons

Departments are silo's. Favorites are played heavily. Poor communication from leadership. Basically, it is "Put your head down and work, don't ask questions, and whaterver you do...do NOT question authority."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes to how management treat their people. There is an undercurrent of dissatisfied people who will never say anything for fear of being ostracized..

    I worked at NETGEAR

    Pros

    * Some truly amazing and talented people
    * Great visibility into the guts of the business - can learn a lot about processes & infrastructure

    Cons

    * Billion dollar company that made its money/reputation connecting people to the Internet, but fundamentally doesn't value their Internet presence
    * Some long-timers are resistance to changes that come with being a billion dollar company
    * Lots of office politics, territorial behavior
    * Answer to everything is to outsource it
    * Dismissive and condescending management in Support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit managing by business objective and learn to value your people. Be more open to the changes coming your way.
