I have been working at NHS Management

Pros

Strategic Health Authorities will cease to exist after March 2013, however, working to this organisation makes you realise how badly the current government understand the NHS structures. This place is a great place to work and is really a conduit for regional approaches that individual trusts/organisations simply cannot achieve without a more 'marco' view of the NHS in their regions.

Cons

Although, I do think that the purpose of SHAs has blurred with the creation of extra ALBs by the DH as responsibility for NHS performance has moved away from SHAs, leading to their end in March 2013. The downside of experiencing the NHS from a regional perspective is that there is hardly any detail in the work that we tend to do, and health care is provided by individuals, which is something that we (only sometimes) tend to forget at SHA 'level'.
