Pay is great, there are some awsome benefits at Nike. Tons of discounts on all kinds of merchandise. The benefits are the best of any retail company operating in the us today. They are very customer service oriented. I work in management and I was hired in as a manger and I have been offered several opportunities for advancement in just the 2 years I have been with Nike. Great place for people with lots of energy and the time to invest in a great job. The best benefit fo rme is the tuition reimbursement. I am going to college for free.
Cons
A lot of hours are required of managers. At time some weeks will require you give up your scheduled days off. Nike district managers and even corporate partners like vice presidents visit stores on monthly and yearly basis. During this time you will have to work everyday and have the store in perfect shape for the visit. This is time in appreciated and lots of thanks and recognition is given. The pros far outweigh the cons though. Some people will not make it past the interview stage. You must be energtic and get customer oriented in order to work fo rnike.
Advice to Senior Management
Nike is a growing company in the retail devision and there is a lot of rework done on reports and things of that nature that is wasting a lot of time in the store. Eliminating much of the rework would free up managers to spend more time training associates and merchandising the store. This would also allow managers to spend more time on customer service and sales on the floor. Much of the time I spend in the store is spent on office work that really does not contribute to the stores success. This is the only item I would like to see change.
