I have been working at NIKE part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

I love working here. Work with a lot of great people and have the opportunity to sell amazing product. I would definitely recommend this for anyone interested in a retail position.

Cons

This position is a retail position so customer traffic in the store and working hours varies greatly throughout the year. If you are not ready to attempt to talk to every customer that enters your section then this may not be the job for you.

I have been working at NIKE full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Culture, benefits, and company pride. Campus is amazing and the product is incredible. Fun events mixed with hard work equate into a good work life balance.

    Cons

Highly competitive, no direct career path, and lack of viability to directors. Can be challenging to obtain a new role due to the 5 people waiting in line for it. Pay is low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More help connecting with other groups/managers.

I worked at NIKE part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It is easy retail work that really teaches you more than you'd probably ever need to know about their products and affiliate brands. That really helps when you're trying to help customers because you're backed up with a bunch of knowledge. Also the tech they use on the floor and the way they organize and run the back is very helpful. They also give quarterly shirts and shoes to wear while on the floor which means nice free pair of pricey Nike's

    Cons

Most of the leadership is very good and the managers have fun doing their job. But often there are too many managers and they step on each others' toes and feeling sometimes get hurt and they backlash comes down to the general sale associates. Also they are very strict with breaks and mandating when, where and exactly how long they are. Pretty typical, but annoying if you cannot make it to the time clock just in time. Also as a younger associate the managers can be very nice and helpful, or very condescending and make it seem like you are an expendable teenager (which to be fair you are, but not something that needs to be brought up ever).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're very protected by extensive rules. Nike wants you to be a happy camper and if you ever have trouble they're there for lots and lots of things from suicide prevention to workplace harassment (by both fellow employees and customers) to just placement and education compensation. I like that the company at large provides these things, but often managers get a big head and forget the end goal of being happy and providing knowledgeable and friendly service.
