I have been working at NORC at the University of Chicago
Pros – The career development stages are clearly outlined, so that promotion expectations are managed appropriately. There is a lot of flexibility in the way you work and what skills you want to acquire whether it is by taking a class or attending a conference.
Cons – Recent growth in business has meant an increase in hiring; however, this has been coupled with a lack of attention on making good systems that make working processes sustainable for the long-run.
Advice to Senior Management – Management could ask more junior/mid-level staff to take more ownership of how they want to see work processes, since they are the ones most in the weeds; instead of having management listening to staff and then making executive decisions that may not always appear to consider the input they collected.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
