I have been working at NRG Energy full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and good pay in return for quite a few cons.

    Cons

HR service is terrible. Open workspace with tradefloor type setting. No personal space. Limited emphasis on employee satisfaction and retention. Micromanaging middle management. Middle management also needs training on people skills. Senior management preference to go "cheap" on practically everything. Office facilities are not the greatest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want your employees to be happy and stay, you might want to think about focusing on and perhaps also investing on the things or initiatives that improve employee satisfaction.

    Pros

Excellent pay. Immediate supervisor very flexible.

    Cons

Regional Mgmt lacks ethics! Hiring and progress reviews extremely questionable at best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top management really needs to pay attention to mid-management practices. New England NRG cannot prosper under current Mgmt.
