    I worked at NSF

    Pros

Great mission and good work done.

    Cons

They used a misleading hiring statement. Make sure the job is what the original job announcement says. Favoritism present, very top-down, gossipy, not a congenial work environment for lower rung employees. Uninterested, egoistic supervisor. This is speaking solely from my experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reevaluate goals. The work is easy, you should be instilled with pride and positive thoughts. Everyone should help each other - avoid favoritism. Take calls for personal development seriously.

I have been working at NSF

    Pros

Smart , interesting, and dedicated employees - both scientific and non-scientific . Regular presentations by notable scientists from outside NSF are open to all employees cultivating an atmosphere of learning and civility.

    Cons

Long hours of hard work. Also, science is collaborative by nature and that carries over to the agency. New employees used to a highly structured and authoritarian management style sometimes have trouble adapting to NSF.
