NSTAR – “NSTAR needs a lot of work to be considered a "good place to work"”
Pros
As a non-management engineer, you are in a union. The union is pretty strong and the job is very stable (hard to get fired). Gotta love Boston!
Cons
Being in the union at times is a downside. There is a lot of animosity between union members and senior management. Hard to get certain time off and the hours/vacation is not very flexible. Horrible policies regarding internet usage, not a very "free" place to work. The stringent regulations lead to a stale work environment and a definite lack of creativity.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat the union members better. There is a lot of room for improvement. Treat people better and you will have more people rushing to work there.
