I have been working at NVIDIA as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Cool culture, discounted dinner. People are pretty upbeat about their jobs in general. Lots of young managers. Campus is nice

Cons

It seems like not much thought is put into intern placement. I was placed into a software role even though I am an EE. I know a CS intern who was placed in hardware.

I have been working at NVIDIA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's fun to work on gigantic chips that make a difference. Your work is used by a lot of people. End markets are high volume. And are meaningful: Top 500 supercomputers, medical & scientific research, industrial designers, in addition to the joy of gaming... Superb senior management By high tech standards, the work-life balance is decent Innovative culture -- "failure" is tolerated within reasonable bounds.

    Cons

Can be chaotic at times. Large teams means communication overload and sometimes-oppressive check-in requirements It's starting to become a large company, complete with mini "fiefdoms" Nvidia has always been competing in ruthless markets, and the past is littered with dead companies that couldn't keep up. Schedules can be quite aggressive, especially for certain teams. There's no guarantee that Nvidia will survive the next 7 years. But I wouldn't bet against it either.

    Advice to Management

Be careful fiefdoms don't get too rigid and that internally it stays as "One Team"

I have been working at NVIDIA full-time

    Pros

    - Bright, motivated coworkers who are generally great to work with - Interesting projects and launches - Opportunity to work with cutting edge products and technologies - Casual, dog-friendly campus

    Cons

    - Lack of organization, process, budgets, and tools to get things done - Upper management often dysfunctional, noncommunicative, and interactions can be feel hostile. As another person commented, yelling is not uncommon - Lack of lateral opportunities, career development, and educational benefits for non-engineers - you are pretty much stuck in the role you onboarded into - Stock grant allotment size at focal review periods are insulting - Cubes are either dark and isolating OR teeny tiny without privacy - need balance

    Advice to Management

    - Hire good people and trust them do their jobs
