I have been working at NXP

Pros

The people here are very talented , dedicated, and decent people. We have an outstanding team, and for that reason alone I look forward to coming to work each day. There are not too many chrontic complainers. The work is technically challenging and for the most part, there is freedom to be creative and develop solutions the way you think best fits the need and stays within cost guidelines.

At NXP, as in all work places, there are political hurdles to be overcome, but at the end of the reason usually prevails, at least at our site, locally.

Cons

We are waiting to be sold or closed. The very top management has clearly not done right by their employees.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please quit and find a new line of work. You have made a royal mess of the company. Within two years you have turned a significant opportunity into disaster. You have literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I have been working at NXP

    Pros

The production employees on the manufacturing floor. They are truly committed to the success of the business. Even after numerous "take aways" they still remain focussed and committed to quality transactions.

    Cons

At East Fishkill, NY, the upper management team does not readily practice open communication. There is enormous micromanagement being practiced and promotion of team against team instead of productive teamwork. During shutdowns or closings, senior managment wants to know names of employees working so that "they" can ensure the correct folks are in place, not the manager whom knows the area of the folks themselves. Engineering 1st line management, and the engineers themselves, will go to the Mfg 2nd line manager for any questions or requests instead of the Production manager. The 2nd line managers allow this to continue and when confronted with the topic they just state that they didn't mean anything by it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the people you have working for you and get back to the philosophy that only through the people can you be successful. Also, understand that it is a manufacturing facility, not an engineering facility and thus all focus should be centered around the manufacturing arena.

    Pros

People generally treat each other like human beings.

    Cons

The saying goes: "If you're not Dutch, you're not much." It's true. Your opinions and ideas are mostly ignored unless you're from the motherland.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your less senior management. Get in touch with what's happening at the bottom. Don't be afraid to make changes. Make NXP a global company, not a Dutch company.
