Work/Life balance depends on the department you are working in. Steinhardt School of Music need not apply..

    Pros

Great Staff, Great Compensation, Creative Environment.

It allowed me to gain more financial experience which was a good thing. Otherwise, I would not have stayed.

    Cons

I temporarily worked as an employee for Steinhardt School of music. It was a great learning experience but extremely disorganized and lacking professionalism. Each person was given the tasks of doing a two person job and many permanent employees often complained about the lack of raises or compensation they received for the work. The person in my previous position as the Budget Coordinator often worked 70-80 hours per week. Definitely enough to turn me off.

  2. Alright. A little detached

    Pros

Location is as good as you could hope for in the middle of Manhattan. Brand name is getting better. If you do a good job, your references will be a lot better than the generic reference. A lot of the faculty are distinguished in their fields (Economics)

    Cons

Professors are not all interested in working with unproven students.

    Advice to Management

Maybe they should have a formal review process that will help you find a mentor faster than just looking for one on your own. Some take sabbaticals or travel and its hard to know how or when they will do that.
