I worked at NYU (New York University) part-time

Pros

Flexible hours, very accommodating to a students schedule. They are also very helpful when it comes to payment and creating the necessary paperwork.

Cons

It takes a very long time to hear back from many of the jobs you applied for. There is also not a lot of possibility for a salary increase.

I have been working at NYU (New York University) full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In general NYU offers great work/life balance and some amazing benefits, the best is tuition remission if you're looking to get a degree. Tons of vacation and sick days and my team in particular has been understanding and flexible when it comes to taking care of family issues and kids. Although this differs greatly by team. A wonderful place to work if you have kids or school or other obligations. I have been lucky to work with some amazing people in a very friendly collaborative environment and learn a lot along the way.

    Cons

Biggest con is the salary, it's below market standards for sure. The other is bureaucracy, faculty run the place and often don't understand technology. So sometimes the decisions that are made are a bit absurd. But that happens in any large organization. If you're looking to work hard, stay late and get ahead - this is not the place for you. Although it's possible, it's very difficult to accomplish in this culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more incentives to keep young talent from leaving. Benefits are great, but it's just not enough for those who want to advance. Growth opportunities are pretty scarce.
