Current Employee - Adjunct Professor Production Supervision in New York, NY
Current Employee - Adjunct Professor Production Supervision in New York, NY

I have been working at NYU (New York University) part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Excellent colleagues, superb students, great staff.

Cons

Salary is too low for the position.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reasses the number of hours a production supervisor takes from review to project approval. The importance of the work coupled with the amount of hours dedicated (plus the going professional rate) is not inline with the small salary offered.

I have been working at NYU (New York University)

    Pros

Great benefits (healthcare, vacation time, tuition remission, though that's been revised to cost more than it did several years ago), and a great location to be in.

    Cons

It's hard to say what the cons are as it really depends on what school and department you work for. For my experience, the cons can be who you work with. They should focus more on teaching, even though it is a research institution. It's terrible to hear students complain about their poor teachers after they pay so much to study.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Again, it depends on where you work within NYU. In some departments, the opportunities for advancement are VERY limited and you'll likely need to apply somewhere else.
