I worked at NYU (New York University) part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The NYU brand. The Deans were very supportive. The office space was historic and cutting edge. Good intentions and well connected to the community. The students were well accomplished, committed to making a difference, and smart. The President is leaving, so the incoming President has a huge opportunity for focus less on growth and more on quality.

    Cons

The pay was exceptionally low for the tuition that students pay. The students were more demanding, entitled and somewhat less driven than I would have expected. NYU is expanding so much in NYC, domestically, and globally - yet not convinced they pay as much attention to the quality of their programs (for the cost). NYU felt more like a business franchising it's name with many cookie cutter approaches than an educational institution committed to learning, growth, and the student/faculty experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the quality of the programs and attention to the faculty and students rather than expanding the brand to the point that NYU is the Starbucks of higher education.
