Pros

Wonderful community experience and culture...encouraging sustainability and progressive. What they lacked for in monetary compensation, they made up for with work atmosphere and educational opportunities.

Cons

Very low compensation with lots of bureaucratic tape. A dead-end job.

    Pros

Very liberal school. Cares about sticking to its score and mission. Small school. You can get to know the president. The founder is an interesting man. Many interesting individuals work there and you can make good friends at work. Boulder is an amazing city and a very fun place to live. The students at Naropa are fun to work with and very tapped into issues around the environment, social justice, and spirituality. I had a great time working on projects with the students.

    Cons

Communication with management can be less than transparent. Financial difficulties at the school. The school seems to be turning around after years of struggling with leadership.

    Advice to Management

Come up with a management structure and stick to it.

  2. Pay is not so great; benefits are better than average

I have been working at Naropa University

    Pros

Flex time and opportunity to work from home, generous time off, good benefits, laid back atmosphere, good departmental communication, eco-pass.

    Cons

Low salary, lack of support for professional development, inconsistent extra-departmental communication, decision-making slower than the speed of government, decision-making inclusive to the point of stagnation/no one really wants to make decisions.

    Advice to Management

Support professional development (specifically monetarily), enhance interdepartmental communication, make a top-down decision here and there - sure people might complain, but somethings might also get done.
