Pros

Great culture, people, and travel opportunities

Cons

Do not like not following "the norm" or differing opinions. Not open to new ideas. Still stuck in the 90's for technology. Information and decisions too centralized.

Advice to Management

More open dialogue with employees and allow hearing alternative points of view without being considered "a problem".

    Pros

    decent place to work for about 6 months while you interview for a better job.

    Cons

    They prey on people to take out loans to pay for school. ridiculous quotas for "sales" people that don't get paid commission or bonuses. They have a secret management plan to not keep employees for longer than about 6 months to a year. They turnover the entire staff at least every year. I also offered some constructive criticism about their training program and the VP got her feathers ruffled.

    Advice to Management

    retire.

    Pros

    Exceptional work environment when numbers are good. Culture Club is a great way to keep employees happy and blind to how similar the job is to telemarketing. Lots of games and theme days. The office dynamic is great and makes it easy to have coworkers as friends. Pay is high for the area

    Cons

    Claims they are there to "change people's lives", they are really about numbers and how many students they can get in under the wire. Very shady business practices, many prospects didn't know where the company got their information, and were usually not interested, yet reps were required to cal and call again. Reps are required to call new leads 3x per day and no is never the right answer. You could literally be dying of cancer and management wants you to continue to call. (same with disconnected phone numbers, because there is a chance that it will reconnect one day). When students decided to drop classes, management would not remove them from classes until the last minute (in hopes to boost numbers). NO requirements or prerequisites to attend (just a High School diploma or GED), many students were unprepared (lacking basic reading/writing/grammar skills) yet were pushed through with hopes of one-on-one assistance. It really is a numbers mill, claiming to be for the student, but really for the dollar. When students do not enroll, it is a failure on the advisors part, not the prospective student... you didn't provide enough value. People tend to pass issues on to someone else rather than taking it on themselves. If numbers are not where they need to be, mandatory overtime (with less than 24 hour notice) is common.

    Insurance benefits are a joke and overpriced. 401K is only matched if company turns a profit, and the HSA plan requires enrollment in the health insurance or plan on lots of headaches. They also state reviews and raises every 6 months, but that is not the case. Either they are late or never completed.

    Advice to Management

    Change for the sake of change is unnecessary, use more common sense. If something works, do not change it. Management is afraid to tell it to you straight and does not allow for questions. If an employee asks too many questions or is too rational (ex: high tuition) they are pegged as negative and unwilling to see the bigger picture. Consider the concerns of your employees and students a little more and stop looking through rose colored glasses. Do not blame admissions for the lack of performance, i.e. stop passing the buck.
