I worked at National Cancer Institute full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Lots of opportunities for collaboration, great funding, very interdisciplinary environment. Additionally, it is just outside Washington D.C., which provides for entertainment when you're not at work. Also conveniently located on a metro line, for easier commuting. Great health benefits.

Cons

Not a traditional academic setting but not really a traditional industry setting; having to deal with the complication of working for the government.
